Former Singer Kim Wang Bae Is Fined For Harassing His Employee Sexually

Kim Wang Bae, the former singer and reporter, has been fined for sexual harassment in the workplace with an employee at his company. Kim Wang Bae filed an appeal against the court’s decision.

Kim Wang Bae is the CEO of WB Skin currently, which is a health and beauty company in South Korea. He is well known for his work on MBC’s variety show, Section TV, as a former reporter.

According to the reporters of media houses, Kim Wang Bae was first convicted in July of harassing an employee sexually, A, who works at his company. After that, he is ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence therapy and to submit a fine of 3 million KRW (about USD 2,270) for sexual harassment in the Seoul Central District Court on July 19, 2023.

Some statement by A is given to the reporters on the incident which happened on July 19; A ( the person being harassed) is firstly forced to sit next to Kim wang bae in a karaoke room near konkuk university station in Seoul. Still, she denied it; after that, he held her hand and hugged her shoulders, and when she tried to leave, Kim Wang Bae waited for her behind the karaoke room door.

According to A (when she was with reporters and giving statements), when she returned to the room, Kim Wang Bae grabbed her wrist and harassed her sexually. Even after her refusal, he physically forces her private parts and holds her waist. 

After the first allegations against Kim Wang Bae on July 19, he denied the claims and appealed for the first verdict on July 22.

A former WB Skin employee shared what Kim Kwang Bae is as the company’s CEO with Wikitree.

“Kim Wang Bae was very dominant within the company. He would use abusive language and insults towards employees. He smoked in the office, creating a fearful atmosphere with pressure on performance. “

This October only, Kim Wang Bae failed to attend his summons as a witness in a parliamentary audit. The National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee called him a “vicious person” and stated, “Such actions are unacceptable in 21st century South Korea.”
